A Hardened Heart

Mark 6:52

[52] for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.

Jesus walked on water.

Mark 6:45-52

[45] Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.

[46] After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.

[47] When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land.

[48] He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them,

[49] but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out,

[50] because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

[51] Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed,

[52] for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened.

He did this right after He altered reality, and created food from thin air.

I used to like comic books. I just could never afford to buy them. But, they all got so bizarre with overpowered heros, and kept giving them stupid flaws, or rediculous weaknesses.

Pink Kryptonite???

It was fun to think of a hero that could do pretty much anything. The top of the list is Reality Warping powers. Basically, the ability to alter anything in life into something else just by willing it.

Need money? Here's a gold bar I just created out of thin air!

A bad guy gets out of hand with his magnetic powers? Boom! No more magnetic powers! Now the guy is just a little girl. The hero wants it, and presto! It is done. Reality as he sees fit.

That's power.

Real power.

Do you understand? Or...is your heart hardened?

Look, everything in our reality is geared, on purpose, to challenge our trusting in God.

God is the ultimate reality bender...well, actually, He is THE reality creater. And, Jesus, being God...well...

So, Climate Change?

Boom! The entire planet has a perfect ecological system that puny humans can't possibly even affect.

"Psst, don't trust God...this one's on you... it's your fault."

"Governments lying, stealing, and slowly taking away our rights!"

Boom! No more evil men!

Forced vaccines, cancer causing parasites, sugar, violence and the evil of all evils perpetrated on all of humanity...Gluten!

Yes, everything, including your crappy boss, your crappy job, and your difficult marriage, is within the control and power of the one who walks on water.

I have been writing about this truth for many years now. Is anyone listening? Does anyone have a softened heart?

Yes, the reason for the resistance to this truth is from a hard heart that wants to be like God...in control.

"Man is the cause of climate change!"

"You got caught up in drugs and alcohol by your own choices, me, I made the right choices!"

"God put me in the wrong body! It's up to man to fix me!"

"You can do anything if you believe in yourself!"

Is your heart still hard?

Years! Years, I have been writing and teaching this very topic. Sure it's repetative! It is, after all, repeated throughout all of scripture! Still, after years of teaching these truths, I struggle with it myself.

Prostate cancer?

"Gee, what do I do?"

"Do I choose to go with radiation? Surgery? Or, something more homeopathic?"

"Look! Here's a video on taking antiparasitic drugs..it worked for that guy!"

"If I make the wrong choice the consequences could be severe!!"

You do realize that the guy who walked on water, the guy who miraculously made food appear, could have you make all the wrong decisions, and still heal you.

Shoot! He could have you die, and then bring you back in minutes, hours, days or years, and even take off a few pounds!

Is your heart hard?

Do you understand the loaves?

Everything Jesus did, and said was about trusting The Father with all parts of reality. All the parables and actions He took highlight this very topic. The struggle, is about who is really in control.

HE IS.
