It's A Good Question

Imagine, if you will, that I am god.

Now me, I am stuck in time. Although, like most believe god to be, I am powerful enough to look ahead, and know everything that is going to transpire.

Obviously, somehow, I just started the ball rolling, but did not interfere with the choices of my created freewill creatures. I basically stirred the pot, and looked ahead to see how it went...it didn't go well.

Yet, even with my limitations where I can't make someone choose, I biblically can ask or threaten someone to obey...even punish for disobedience.

So, here are my biblically based abilities or powers:

I can create matter and energy where there was none. "Let there be light!"

I can drastically change the weather, calming a storm with a word.

I can make food multiply, or appear from the sky. Manna anyone?

I can transmute matter into whatever I want. Water into wine?

I can either magically create money into a fishes mouth, or amazingly stir the pot just so a scenario happens that causes a man to lose a coin and have a fish to pick it up and time it all exactly where a disciple fishes it out at the exact time he throws in his fishing line, just to pay a tax...whoa, that was a tough one! I've got a magic wooden stirring spoon!

I suppose it would have been easier to magically create a fish on Peter's line with a coin already there...but I digress.

Ok, so say with these powers but still limited by choice. How would I fix this mess of a world?

Well, for starters, I would not create Satan. No devil, no problem in the garden. All is perfect! End of story!

Ok, say I was napping, and created the devil anyway, by accident. No point in going back there I guess!

I could then just not put the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the garden. Or, I could make the fruit smell really bad. I mean who would want to eat it!

Oh, but look, they chose it anyway. How frustrating!

Bummer, now I have mankind struggling with sin. Oh Wait! I could make it so anyone who chooses to sin immediately contracts leprosy! I could even let them be cured if they repent from that sin! That could work!

What if they still chose to be evil? For any really evil dude, since I know they are coming, since I see ahead so well, I can end them before they reach adulthood. It would be easy! I can turn water into wine, so why not turn a bit of water into arsenic? I could even do it in the throat so they don't spit it out!

That would work! No psychotic dictators, no mass murdering!

I could always drop Manna from the sky. No one would ever go hungry! Ever!

Shoot! I could even make the weather perfect and animals nice, so sleeping in a field would be wonderful...no homeless problem here!

Wow! Think what I could do! Even with my limitations of "choice", I could still make this world work better than it is now.

Arrogant much?

Yes, most definately

I'm not god. Not even close. And God, even with the limitations most Christians place on Him, could still make a perfect world out of this one.

I write all this foolishness to make a point. GOD, the biblical God, is perfect. He is perfect in power, plan AND purpose!

If this is true, then He makes no mistakes, and has no limitations. He doesn't just know the future, He wrote the future...all of it. Our "choices" were made by Him long before we were born.

This IS the biblical God. It is.

If scriptures are true, then this world is working perfectly as intended.

So, the problem isn't that God has lost control, it's that you don't trust His control.

Isn't that what He wants as written repeatedly in the scriptures?

If I made excuses for your work, work that you intended to go as it did, would you not be offended?

I would.

He is.

Matthew 22:29

[29] Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

If you limit the power of God, you don't know God, or the scriptures. The scriptures paint a picture of an unlimited God. Jesus, Himself, spoke of The Father this way.

Matthew 6:25-26

[25] "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

[26] Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

So, why then do you limit Him?

That is a really good question, and you should really find an answer to it...
