A Conversation?

We make all these ridiculous rules. Truly, we have been no different from the religious leaders in Jesus' day.
Really!
"You must pray daily!"
"No, three times a day, like Daniel!"
"It should be done with fasting!"
"No, just in your closet!"
The "rules" make us feel like we are being "righteous". It's nothing but a works thing. It really has nothing to do with righteousness, godliness, or acceptance by God.
Prayer, prayer to God is nothing more than a conversation. Sure, you can sit down at set time of the day to talk to your friend, or your wife. Generally, you're not going to set a time, or schedule a conversation unless there is a rather important topic you want to discuss. However, the best conversations you have with anyone are as you are plodding along WITH them during the activities of your day.
For me, this has always been how I've had the best conversations with the Author of the Universe.
With a friend, the most important things necessary to have a good conversation are their presence, and willingness to chat.
With God, He is absolutely always present AND willing. Sure, some days He, like any friend, is chattier than others. Still, He is a wealth of information, guidance and encouragement. He also has a better sense of humor than anyone I have ever met.
Yes, God IS and He is more than capable of having a very real conversation with anyone.
You don't have to be good enough. Shoot, you don't even need to have anything of value to talk about.
He IS willing, and present...always. Plus, He IS everywhere, all the time!
If you want to know God, REALLY want to know God, just start a conversation.
Oh, but though you may be saying most of the words to start with, to really get to know someone, you need to hear them speak. A one-sided conversation is more like a speech than a true conversation.
You don't need to learn how or attain some "special" ability as most will tell you. Thats just another means for one man to feel "better than".
God hates that...yes, He really does.
He IS God. He IS the most powerful. He IS the most capable. He IS the only one we can all really count on.
Like any good Father, He will take the lead in your conversation.
All you need is a wee little faith, that He IS, to start it.
Oh, if He wants, He can also start it anytime. If you are being an ass, He might even use a two-by-four to do so...
"Look, He is winding up to start that conversation now!"
