Basic Biblical Christianity 101

Acts 4:10-12
10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
11 He is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.’
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus said He was God and the only way to Heaven. He was either nuts, a liar or correct.
There is no middle ground with Jesus. You either believe, and are His or don’t. You cannot partially believe, and make him out to be some nice 60’s peace and love guy.
He was either CRAZY, or He is GOD.
Acts 11:26
… The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
A Christian is a disciple or student of Jesus Christ. They hold to, and live by, the teachings of Jesus Christ. These teachings are in the Bible. (the word means BOOK)
If someone is not studying, or even reading the teachings of Jesus, are they a student of Jesus Christ?
Just going to Church does not make anyone a Christian
Romans 10:9
9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 3:21-24
21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
In the bible, Jesus and his disciples taught that HE was the means to be saved, NOT by works (Good deeds) but ONLY by believing in HIM.
Being saved means that you have a life after death. Otherwise there is destruction (Hell, may mean the grave. Eternal punishment, is debatably annihilation, an eternal or forever punishment… basically either there is nothing afterward – I tend to think the scriptures imply annihilation for those who reject Jesus Christ)
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
Romans 3:27-30
27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith.
28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.
29 Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,
30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.
Salvation is in FAITH alone, not by doing good things.
James 2:18
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.
However, TRUE FAITH is shown by how people live. If I the building I am in is going to explode, I will get out. Action follows faith.
Matthew 7:16
16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
A Christian who really believes will act like he really believes.
If a person is lying, cheating, stealing, killing, talking trash, slandering, etc. (don’t need to do all of them, any one of them will show the heart) They are not following Jesus Christ.
John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
No one will live a perfect Christian life, because we are NOT Jesus Christ. However, they will KEEP his commands, and follow his way.
When a Christian fails, all they must do is confess their sin to God and others. Apologize to those they wronged, and work to not do it again. For to continue in sin and embrace that lifestyle, they must reject God’s way.
I realize that everyone has their OWN beliefs. However, TRUTH is TRUTH.
I can believe all I want that I am a bird, but if I jump off a cliff, the TRUTH will hit me at a high rate of speed. I am not a bird. That is the truth.
1. Christianity is either true or it is not.
2. We will all find out sooner or later if it is true.
3. To find out now, ASK Him. If He is God, He can most definitely answer you.
4. Finally, if you truly believe it, it will show by how you live.
5. If you don’t show it, then SEEK Him for evidence to increase your FAITH.
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
