Be Better

It all makes perfect sense when you understand what the problem is.

It's the desire to be like God.

God is in control.

God is unstoppable.

God can do anything He wants.

Everyone, and everything is in submission to Him.

He is the strongest, and best that there is.

This is why we feel that we have to accomplish something. Whether in work, sport, relationships, or spiritually. Deep within, we want to be more. It's actually painful to acknowledge our limitations and failings.

We love when a man or woman seems to "transend" and become more. We like it because it then seems that we have hope to follow the same path.

"Maybe, if I try harder, eat less, workout more, study more, get bit by a radioactive spider..."

Being better is a good goal, but we've had it all wrong.

Matthew 23:11-12

11. The greatest among you will be your servant.

12. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

In this universe, the one God created, the way to ascend is to descend.

Phillipians 2:5-11

5. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

7. but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

8. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross!

9. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every namtha

10. that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11. and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Can you see it? All evil, is simply putting ourselves first. Even the world knows that!

Slavery, murder, and stealing, are evil, because in each action, one has to value themselves above another.

Evil IS "I will ascend!"

It's obvious, yet we don't seem to get it!

Sure, its easy in a movie where the jerk, or bad guy is self centered and blatantly mean to the "weak". Yet, we just love when the "good guy" beats the crap out of them, finally.

Isn't the "good" guy raising himself now?

It is a conundrum. We want to ascend. We want to see others ascend. Yet God wants us to go the other way. It goes against our nature!

The sin nature.

Turn the other cheek.

Go the extra mile.

Give your last penny.

Can you imagine if everyone acted this way? We would have the perfect world the social justice warriors hurt others to proclaim!

There would be no stealing.

There would be no murder.

There would be no rudeness.

There would be no lies.

There would be no cheating.

It would be paradise!

See it?

If so, now you can see what Jesus Christ is making for the New Heaven and New Earth.

So, the question is do you trust His way of doing things?

If you don't...do you think He will want you there?

Would you?
