It Makes Perfect Sense

If the reason Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was to become like God, and they did so because they didn't trust God, doesn't it make sense that the way back would be to trust Him, and admit that only God is God?
Yes, it does.
It also makes sense that for a people that still struggled with ascending, and becoming like a God, by comparing themselves to each other, that God would give them the true comparison to Him, in a written form? The Law?
Yes, it does.
Doesn't it make sense that God would then prove who He is, and that He alone can do it by fulfilling the written form? Showing Himself to be the only one who is God?
Yes, it does.
Doesn't it make sense that the only way back to a right relationship to God is then to trust Him, the One who fulfilled the Law and finished it, showing Himself to be God, while also accepting His rule, His authority? His Lordship?
Yes, it does.
It is the exact opposite of what Adam and Eve did.
Doesn't that sound like a complete reversal, a 180 degree change of direction?
Yes, it does.
That is by definition, repentance.
Repentance is not "to stop sinning", as most teach. For since we are not God, that is impossible. Paul addresses this in the book of Romans. Jesus states this as He speaks of us compared to The Father. We cannot be good enough. We cannot become like God.
He never made us that way.
Salvation is a right relationship with God. If you are still not trusting God, not accepting His full authority, and still not accepting your weak, never-to-be God status, you are on your own.
You will be judged by your efforts to be like God, and you will fail, even if you are better than your neighbor.
That salvation prayer means nothing if you are not trusting God's power, control, and authority, while still attempting to ascend, and be like Him.
Do you see the freedom here? God accepts you as you are. You no longer need to feel small or worthless because you can't measure up. He loves and accepts you solely because you love and trust Him.
Nothing else matters.
You become free from your efforts to "be the best you can be".
You become His work, not your own. Now, you trust Him to do it.
Since you trust Him, you KNOW He can and will do it...even if it hurts.
If you do this...you know what you will find?
God is good. God does not lie. God does not fail.
You are making this hard.
He made it easy.
All you need do is repent.
For real this time.
