It's A Compulsion

ree

That is the best way to put it.

I can go for days. It starts with an irritation at the lack of interest. It grows to a frustration and even anger at the dismissal of the information that God reveals. When I receive it, I am thrilled. I am amazed. Yet, when I write it down, it is not received at all. So, I say to myself..."why do I do this?"

Then I don't...for a while.

I get it. Like with everything else in our reality, nothing that happens or doesn't happen, happens because God wills it so.

Yes, I know people hate that thought. It is understandable since it is hardwired into their DNA, both physically and spiritually. This is the problem. Yet, if God did not want it to be so, it would not be.

You can cling to your idea that God released control of all reality to a man, and that man somehow, gave that control to the accuser. But, if you sit down and look at it in the light of scripture, the idea becomes ridiculous.

Sure, it is the main theology taught by respected leaders throughout the world. It all centers around our desire for power, our desire to be God, our desire to control. We call it "Free-Will".

It is part of the lie. The lie that started the whole thing. The lie that the serpent gave to Eve. "If you eat this, you will be like God..."

"But all the respected leaders teach it!"

Yes, they do. Consider all that the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes taught...wrong. They were extremely popular and respected in their day. Still, aren't they the ones who hollered to Pontius Pilate to crucify our Lord?

Why, yes. Yes, they were.

They are actually wrong on many things. The whole Lucifer mythology. Demons and the devil ruling in Hell. Demons being fallen angels. Satan's fall from grace long before God created the earth.

All of this can be easily verified as wrong in scripture. In fact, none of what I listed above is written in scripture at all. None of it!

People still eat it up. They believe it because they don't do one thing Jesus stated plainly..."if you continue in my word, you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free?

Free from what?

Sin, and the compulsion to do so.

Sin is the separation from God. It is actually not just "doing wrong" as the popular leaders have taught for thousands of years. No, Sin is the distance between God and man, or Good and Evil.

It is.

Of course, it you get stuck on what the "leaders" say, you will never see this. The truth will set you free, He said. This one, is no exception.

"Free from what?"

Haven't you ever wondered how some that you know just can't seem to separate themselves from some sinful behavior, even one as heinous as child abuse? To them, it is like alcoholism, an addition. They have a desire that they cannot break free from...without belief in a higher power.

Compulsion.

The studies have shown, over and over. None of the programs that man has ever come up with will work at all without reliance on a "higher power". AA was one of the first, and it can work. Still, it doesn't always.

Why?

You must realize that if scripture is true, we are surrounded by spiritual beings that don't age, don't get sick, don't sleep and know vastly more about our reality than we do. Many of the spiritual beings hate God, and us by proxy.

The popular leaders have speculated for years why this is so, and like much of what they teach, it is wrong or even pointless. Sure, it could be jealousy, or replacement envy, but what does any of that matter...if you accept the picture scripture paints of God. HE IS.

God wills it all so. Now, here is where you want to ask why. He might tell you, but me, I'm still waiting for that one. It doesn't matter for me now though. I would like to know, but I in no way need to know. I figure if I did...He would tell me.

What I do know, is what scripture says. We have an enemy, because God has an enemy. One He created for a good reason, even though he does such terrible, terrible things.

God is sovereign. Faith is in Him, His power, His control...or it is in something else. Generally, that is not others, or the devil...it is in ourselves.

That "I can be like God" thing again.

This is why I write and speak against the Free-Will idea so much. It is the opposite of God's control. It is US being like God. God is not therefore sovereign...we are. Well, in our own little realities anyway. This is why we fight so much for control. This is why we get so frustrated and angry when things don't go our way.

"How dare He! This is not the way I wanted that to go!!"

Can you see it? This is the root of the problem. The heart of sin. That separation from us and God that permeates everything we are.

Until we surrender and submit to Jesus Christ.

We call Him Lord, but is He? When He is Lord, He is the ultimate ruler, the top authority. What He says goes, no matter who or what opposes Him. If we submit to that, we do so only because we trust Him.

There is that faith thing again! Trust in THE Highest Power.

How do you go from compulsion towards evil behavior to living a godly life...or at the very least, making better choices?

Faith is more than just simple trust. It is deeper. This is why it changes everything. This is why it can move mountains. Faith, in Jesus Christ, comes with a Super Spiritual element. It begins with a spark of Life. A fire that either grows or gets snuffed out. Faith is given by God, The Father. It is not something we work for or figure out. He alone does it, or it isn't real.

Ah, but when it is real...everything changes. We change. Jesus called it being "born again". He, of course, was correct. We go from blind to seeing. From dead to alive. From a brain eating zombie to a useful member of society.

Jesus is the cure for a sinful compulsion. A constant desire to rebel against God's best plan. On one hand, He offers forgiveness, a way back to the grace of God. That grace, then becomes something more. It becomes a compulsion to do the right thing.

If you still think you are better than the guy in the gutter because of your power to choose, your "self" control, then you are still just as lost as the gutter man. You missed the point of Jesus entirely. This is why you are struggling so with porn, or adultery, or aggressive behavior to others. I could go on...and so will you, until you submit to the true King.

Which you will only do, it the Father wills it so.

"What hope do we have then!"

None, unless God gives you the faith to believe in Him. If you have it, you WILL change. It is like a light bulb. If you are connected to a dead battery, you will be dark. If you are connected to a power source, you will shine brightly. This is a reality that just is.

Once a wire is connected to a power source, do you know what happens? Electricity is simply electrons flowing through the wire and causing heat when they reach an element in the glass bulb. The filament in the bulb has a tiny bit of resistance to the electron exchange. This causes friction within the atomic structure of the metal. This friction creates light. The electrons within the wire and filament do nothing until there is a power source.

So, if that wire and bulb are connected to a dead battery, nothing happens. There is darkness. There is coldness. Yet with power, there is light, there is warmth. There is a reflection of God. There is action that reflects Him.

What are you connected to?

Scripture is clear on this matter. If you try to fix yourself, with yourself, you will be a dark bulb. If you trust in THE Power Source, He will fix you.

The compulsion will change.

As I was in the shower this morning, again saying to myself "why do I keep writing?", these are the words that started this post. It all started with me seeing that while I get so frustrated, so disappointed, so disheartened by the lack of interest...I still do it, like any addict would.

Jesus is my Lord, and He commands it so. I can do nothing but obey.

I am compulsed to...

and I like it.
