Obviously Bad Teaching

Taken from the "beliefs" section on a local church website:

"Unbelievers will be separated from God’s presence. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence."

Taken from scripture:

Revelation 20:

11. Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.

12. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.

13. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done.

14. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

15. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21

1.Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

Hades is Hell. It is cast into the lake of fire. The second death...permanent destruction.

The only ones saved will be those who have their names in the book of life. They are in that book because they accepted Jesus Christ as Lord. Their works are irrelevant in getting in that book.

Heaven AND earth will be gone. Also no longer in existence.

So, this church "doctrine" is biblically not true - "Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence."

They are not eternal...they will be gone.

This is a standard and accepted teaching, but easily disproved.

Matthew 22:29

Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

If your faith is IN God, you will need to KNOW God. Not someone else's description of Him.

You need to acknowledge and accept His power, and know the Scriptures.

If you limit God's power, you are already seeking someone else, who doesn't exist.

If you don't know the Scriptures, you will believe anyone who confidently tells you lies...especially if they add false impressive stories, poor statistics, and dramatic music.

You just will.
