What Are Friends For?

You know, I love to discuss God and scripture.

I firmly believe the lack of discussion and debate within the churches has been the worst thing to happen in our generation.

We have been told a lie that the shining men on the pulpits are unquestionable. We have been divided into named groups that won't discuss divergent views without insult and name calling. We have taken up the lie of the enemy that we need to "ascend".

I want to discuss. I will go back and forth with anyone, as long as they don't insult or become rude. That is not speaking the truth in love.

What is sad is that the discussions always stop after I respond a few times with scripture. Maybe I didn't explain it well, maybe I am not using the right passages. How would I know if they stop responding or say, "I'll agree to disagree."

You know what that communicates? It clearly communicates that you don't care enough about me to debate until I see truth, or that my thoughts are not worth your time to investigate the possibility that I might have a more correct view.

That hurts the most.

I have not given insults in any discussion. Anyone can spend the time necessary to plow through all of the comments in every post going back to 2014. It's all there, I have deleted nothing.

Where are the friends who care enough to show me a better view? Where are the friends who will consider what I think enough to dive into scripture to see if I am right?

I'll wait...
