Why You Really Need to Know The Guy

A coin from nowhere, or a complex chain of events? A flat earth, or an unending space filling with matter? Do you really think THE God of this entire reality does things easy?

Uh, yeah, a big no.

So Peter, in Matthew 17:24-27, is told by Jesus to go to a nearby lake and toss a line in to catch a fish. Jesus said to take the first fish he catches, and open it's mouth. In it he would find a four-drachma coin.

Here is a wonderful example of Jesus showing who He really is, that Peter and many of Jesus' current followers can't seem to accept. The Guy can do anything.

Any author of a story can do the miraculous in their novel. It's simple, you just write the story that way. You, if you are the writer, could give any character super powers, kill them and bring them back, or make them so bad that anyone who reads your story hates them! It's easy!

What you can't do, is make the story so complex that the words necessary would fill up a warehouse with pages. You just don't have that kind of time.

God does.

I have no doubt that when Peter caught that fish, and found that coin, he had to wonder how it got there. I did.

Sure, God could have just miraculously materialized a coin into the fish, and or materialized a fish already with the coin. But considering the detail of our universe, of God's story, I think that a rather complex chain of events happened getting a coin from someone's pocket to the mouth of a fish.

You can see if you look, in your own life, how many times a series of complex events lined up just to get you here, or there.

Do you realize how absurd it is to think that it was random? Seriously, what story ever written, happened randomly? Not even a simple silly children's diddy "happened" randomly.

"Oh look! I tossed this paper onto a printer and this whole story about a Jack and a Jill, who fell down a hill, just appeared! Amazing!"

Ridiculous, actually.

So, why does this matter? Well, I hope that maybe you will look at your life, and actually see The Author's hand.

If you do, then you will become one of the few characters, that have the opportunity to become more. To become complex enough, to have an eternal relationship with the Guy who holds the pen.

Yes, it's real, and these "characters" are the most important part of this story.
