A Good Father

Most Christians I know have a real problem with the biblical concept that God is completely in control. The bible does teach it, over and over. I understand the struggle, because it raises some really uncomfortable questions. One in particular… If God is so loving and in control then why does he make us suffer?
Here is something that I believe came from him…why? Cause, I am not smart enough to come up with it myself.
If you have a child and that child has a genetic limitation (birth defect, flaw – doesn’t matter in this context). That child will only live to the age of five, and then it will die. It will be comfortable and die without any pain, but it will only live five years. However, there is a series of procedures, very painful ones that your doctor can perform over the next 4 years. They are 100% effective without a doubt. But each procedure MUST be gone through for the life to be extended to a normal 80 to 90 years. Would you do it if you loved your child?
Now, in each procedure, the child SCREAMS in pain. Many times looking directly at you screaming WHY? You try to explain but the child cannot possibly understand. The only risk to the effectiveness of this procedure is for the process to stop, for the child to quit, or for you to quit.
That is what God is doing. Currently we are genetically stuck with just a short life here on this world. God, through Jesus Christ, wants to make us PERMANENT. Faith in him is the key, the procedure is painful circumstances (some extremely) so that we can grow in faith and receive eternal existence as a result. The only thing we can do is continue the process, or walk away. How do you think the Father feels about those who he can’t convince that the pain is worth it… He just wants to make you PERMANENT after all.
