A Humbling Truth

Luke 18:31-34

31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.

32 He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him;

33 they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”

34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.

Jesus spoke plainly, but the truth of what He said was hidden from them.

By God the Father.

If it wasn't, they would not have been so lost when it came to pass...just as He said it would.

The Truth is not relative.

The Truth is concrete.

The Truth is not discovered.

The Truth is revealed.

If you think you are better than anyone, because you see something that others don't, then you are blind to this basic truth.

No one sees anything without God enabling them to see it...no one.

If you think you are better because of what you know, then there are only two possibilities.

1. Either God gave you the truth to bring you judgement for your pride, or

2. To expose it to you so that you can ask Him to deal with it.

If you understand something no one else can, be humbled, God is gifting you a truth that will make you separate...or holy.

You did not deserve it, so He is treating you with a special kindness...or like I said above, a judgement.
