About Faith

Updated: Jun 9

Faith is based on knowledge. Although the knowledge, from our perspective, seems to be part of the brain, however, there is a deeper knowledge where Faith resides. Where it starts, and then it either prospers, or dies.

Peter on the mount, watched Jesus transform. He also saw two men appear. He says to Jesus out loud, “..let us build three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”. How did he know that it was Moses and Elijah? He had never seen them or their picture before. They left this world many years before Peter was even born. They did not even have a painting of them from that time. No, Peter had never seen their likeness before, yet without Jesus, or anyone telling him who they were, he knew.

Faith is a deeper knowledge, not from the mind but from the Spirit.

The thief on the cross; one minute he is mocking Jesus, the next he is asking to be part of his kingdom. What changed? Knowledge, understanding, a grasping of truth from a source that is not based in this world. He did not reason it out based on information, no, he saw the truth the same way Peter did. He just knew, and believed.

I could go on and on about the Woman with the possessed daughter, the Centurion, or many others. It is always the same. They just knew, or understood who Jesus was, what he could do, and what authority he truly had. Even when the disciples did not…yet. They all knew, deep inside, that He was God.

Even those who say they discovered the truth about Jesus by study, and reason, would still not be able to grasp it at all if the inner “knowing" or revealing had not occurred.

Romans 10:17

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

The inner knowing comes from God, His word, His Spirit. The words are Spirit He says…

John 6:63

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are Spirit and they are life.

No one comes to Him unless the Father draws them…Then the Son introduces them to the Father…

John 6:44

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.

Luke 10:22

All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

It starts with believing that Jesus rose and is God, and then grows into understanding that God is in control, and all things revolve around Him. This is where the Kingdom of God is…the knowledge, and understanding of the authority of the King, truly accepting it.

He is my king, what He says is absolute, what He commands is law, His desire is my joy. When we accept this, then the authority of the King is in us, and so is the authority of His Kingdom, and thus the power. Not that “we" wield that power, but at any moment He can wield it in us, and through us. Because if we struggle with desire to wield that power, then how can He be King within us? No, the right, and decision, to wield the power must always rest on the King.

The servant of the King who walks in the name or authority of the king, represents the King. The betrothed virgin, she has the authority of the bridegroom. She will be treated with the same respect, or fear that the bridegroom has. This can be good, when surrounded by the friends of the bridegroom, but it can be dangerous when surrounded by the enemies of the bridegroom.

However, in our situation, the King of Kings is our bridegroom, and His authority is absolute.

If we accept only good from him, is he really our king? No, we trust in His heart, His plan, His authority, therefore we trust that ALL things will work for good in us and for us. The King loves his own.

There are only two ways to go…

1. I will ascend and be like God.

Isaiah 14:14

I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.

To ascend is to take more control, to become something more, to be our own king, to be our own God. This is idolatry.

Jonah 2:8

Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.

2. I will descend, and accept Jesus as God. This is the only means of salvation.

To descend is to accept God’s control, to become a servant, to be like Jesus. It is the only way we can truly be “like” God.

Philippians 2:5-8

5. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6. Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7. but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!

He is my King and God, I have no other. I serve no other. Through Him, I walk this life only to walk in His purpose and plan, to accept both good and bad from Him, trusting that He is in control of all things.

Therefore, my fight is not against others, but against myself in ever increasing submission to His will. My enemies are spiritual, and deceptive. They try to trick me into trusting anything but my King. However, I choose to be a servant of the King of Kings. I will trust the King and nothing else.
