If I have a friend who has a bit of money, and I really only hang out with him because of his boat, cars, and other toys, is he really a friend?
No.
Well, he might be to me, but surely I am not to him.
Do you want friends like that? Friends that don't really want to know all the details about you, but only what they are comfortable knowing...or what they can benefit from.
Jesus Christ has a massive amount of friends like that. All they care about are the advantages they get from knowing who He is.
Yet, they don't really know Him. They ignore the serious questions and topics posed in the Book. They only listen to what others who seem to know Him say about Him, things they like to hear. Things that speak of how loved everyone is, including themselves.
Yet, they ignore all the many scriptures that describe the total commitment He wants in His relationships. The giving of life and heart. The willingness to leave everything, if He asks His friends to do so.
Yes, Jesus Christ wants His friends lives, no less than a newly married partner does...more in fact.
He doesn't want a plastic friend. One that really doesn't want to know Him in any real sense. One that has little desire to spend time with Him, unless they need something. One that likes the benefits, but will not accept the cost.
No, He doesn't want fake friends. In fact, He won't take these "friends" into His house when all is done.
He won't.
Let this be a warning. Check your heart now, while you still can. Saying you know Jesus, isn't the same as walking with Jesus.
He wants to be known, and if you aren't interested in Him, He won't be in you...
