Interactions with God #55
I was still teaching the Sunday school class. I was also still the “youth guy”. Additionally, one of the elders had asked me to be on a rotation for a communion service.
Most churches do the communion thing, you know, the grape juice and cracker event, once a month. The church we go to now does it every week. There is really no real requirement on frequency or timing. There is only a requirement that it be done…so that we remember the cost of our salvation.
The church in Nashua, at that time, had a specific communion service that was held just before the main service. It was held in the auditorium where I would teach my Sunday school class.
The rotation was between 4 or 5 deacons, elders and myself. It was an honor being included, but I was the only one involved that was “untitled”. That made it somewhat awkward in explaining why I was doing it, to those who asked. Either way, I only did it once in a while. It was teaching. I love teaching God’s Word. I will do it any chance I can get.
For these communion services, like my class, I came up with my own lessons. After a few turns at the podium, I noticed something. The message I gave always seem to be a short version of the pastor’s message. Like the radio messages, God was teaching the same message, only this time, using me!
This may not seem like a huge interaction with God, but when you are unsure of your ability to hear God, this type of interaction offers a great deal of confirmation, that yes, you are hearing God and doing exactly what He wants.
