Not Like a Man

There is this foolish idea that God is more like a man than a Supreme being outside of time and space.

Instead of the biblical God, He is thought to be like Zeus, with reactions and feelings no different than a man with great powers.

Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

This idea is vastly unbiblical and a serious error.

God, according to Scripture is over and above ALL things including time. He is ALL powerful and WAY beyond our mortal comprehension.

I have struggled with this stupid idea within the church for over 20 years. Those who refuse to accept God as He is are always rude, mean and dismissive when their concept of a simplistic weak God is challenged. Once I had a pastor, who I knew well, get up and walk away from me scoffing, as I stated that God was outside of time. He would not even consider it. I was baffled, as Scripture is rather clear on the matter.

Do you realize that an idol is an image of God, that is supremely inaccurate. Men have been making them out of earthly materials for thousands of years solely because it makes God seem smaller, more comfortable, and manageable. Do you realize that just because you haven't made your "comfortable" mental image into a statue, it is still a horribly inaccurate Idol? Which God, of course, despises?

Yes, it is THAT serious. Examine the scriptures if you doubt my words.

Jesus walked this earth as if God, His Father, Himself outside of time and space, was in control of ALL things. His example of trusting God in the circumstances is a huge reason why He came. It is a way of life that is open to all believers. Trusting God in everything that happens, because God is in control of everything including all circumstances.

Philippians 4:6 NIV

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Stop blaming the devil for your problems.

God is in charge, not Satan.

Stop blaming your spouse for your unhappiness.

God is in charge of your spouse.

Stop blaming yourself for failures in life, ministry and career. Do you really believe that you have the power to mess up God's plan for your life? I'm sorry, you are not that powerful and your view of God is way too small.

God knows the beginning from the end, because He is outside of time and space. He is ABOVE ALL things.

Time is change, God does not change, because He is outside of time! He sees all because He made all.

This universe is like a book to Him that all the words are read at once. He knows all of it because He wrote all if it.

Satan is a character in the story, an antagonist, so are those that act like him, selfish and faithless.

Believers in Christ are also characters in the story, along with good angels, meant to move on to the next greater story!

We are all in time, all changing, all growing.

God is not. He is perfect as He is and always will be.

Understand what a great thing this awesome being of infinite power and place did by making a perfect image of Himself in Jesus. An avatar if you will, all to save us and make us more.

Romans 8:28 NIV

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

It says ALL things work together...TOGETHER for good, not all things are good! That means that, yes, the bad things are ordained by God along with everything else to make you who He wants you to be for a good reason.

Yeah, He might not tell you that reason, well boo hoo, you will just have to trust Him...yes, if you think about it...that is exactly what He wants.

Jesus did, in the garden...

Trust God, there is no one more powerful, more kind, more loving and more purposeful with all the good and bad details of your life...no one...not even close.

Yes, if you get it, it is because He wants you to, and because you are that important to Him.

A better image of God, one that is completely beyond what your tiny brain can fathom.

What a perfectly safe perspective!

Now all those things that frustrate you can be accepted as God working to improve you. All those people that piss you off can be appreciated as tools of your father to draw you closer. Every problem is God's hand making you more.

Can you do it now? Be anxious for nothing? NOTHING!

Yeah, He did say it wouldn't be easy, but it is a great goal to strive for!

John 14:1-3

1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
