Submission to Truth
Updated: Nov 1
The more you trust God, the less you will petition Him for things you want.
There is nothing wrong with asking God for what you want, but as you accept His power, control, and goodness, the more you will realize that what He wants, is by far better than anything you could come up with.
He is good, great even, far better than we can understand. Our acceptance of this is due, only to the faith we are given.
When we pray "thy will be done" our prayer does not change or improve God's will in this universe. No, it is just a verbal acceptance of an actual fact, like saying "Jesus is Lord".
He does not need us.
The Word "amen" isn't our approval or agreement for the prayer. It is an acknowledgment that God will do what's best. It is an agreement with His will, a lining up with His plan and purpose.
"Yet, not my will, but yours be done."
We are separate, due to sin, due to the knowledge of good and evil, and a desire be in control. A lack of faith got us here. A gift of Faith is the only thing that will bring us back.
"By grace are you saved, through faith, not by works."
Our attempts to be in control permeate, and pollute, our every thought and action. Because of it, mankind has twisted the very word of God into a means to get what we want. It is a power grab at the highest levels of our hearts.
Trust grows as we get to know the one worthy of our trust. It is a revelation of their power and character. It is a knowing of them, that increases with every contact, every interaction.
We trust them, because we find them to be by far better than us. The are better able to fix things. They know how to avoid pitfalls. They have abilities we can't even dream of. They are better than us. They deserve our trust.
The right reaction to One so amazing is submission. They are so much better equipped to make our lives work, that we will do so without hesitation. This is what happens when we are given the faith to believe in Jesus Christ.
We acknowledge Him as Lord.
Yet, we still struggle with a desire to ascend, to be like or better than Him. This, of course, is impossible. It comes from a lack of, or small level of faith. It comes from a smaller connection, or relationship with Him.
You cannot trust who you do not know.
If we don't know how awesome He is, then how can we possibly trust Him. If we can't trust Him, we MUST make up for what He can't do. This is how and why we twist words and actions into a bid for control.
Saying "amen" like it is needed, or nothing will happen.
Using "in Jesus name" like an incantation.
Praying with emphasis or repetition to motivate and drive a desired response.
Engaging in traditions and rituals to manipulate God to "obey".
Serving others to earn points in order to obtain a desired outcome.
I could go on for days. The truth is, anything we do, or say, to feel like we can manipulate God, and thus the outcome, is a rebellious and prideful attempt to usurp God's authority...His position.
Think I'm nuts? Well, consider, if you dare, your heart in the matter.
Why do you scoff at the idea?
Why to you cling to the "power" of prayer?
Why do you angrily defend "freewill" in your own mind?
Why do you avoid Romans chapter 9?
Why do you call yourself a "prayer warrior"?
Why do you look down on any brother or sister who doesn't see what you see, or do what you do? Are you patiently trying to teach them truth, or are you dismissing them as a waste of time?
"YOU people need to wake up!?"
How arrogant! How prideful is that statement! Especially, if you understand that you would see nothing at all if God, in His grace, didn't reveal it to you!
Where is the heart to lift up others? The desire to speak the truth in love? No, if you are honest with yourself, you will see instead a desire to ascend, to raise yourself in your own heart above those "losers" who just don't get it.
You are so smart. You are so wise. No, you are a fool.
Only by God's grace, can you become better. By His grace you can see how any attempt to ascend is the opposite of faith in Him.
If you do, it is a gift. A gift from the Heart of God. A "knowing" from His very Spirit. An action of The Father.
The result, if He does so, is a given...
You will submit.
