Two Sides of The Same Coin

Time is change. This is a fact. It is actually a measurement of change. A clock ticks one second to the next. There is motion, there is change. In a digital clock, there is still change. Code is moving, thinking, processing and it shows by a change from 1 to 2...and so on.

The bible declares that God does not change. God is also above EVERYTHING, including time. In fact EVERYTHING is made by Him and for Him. Yet God does change...well, in truth, He just acts like He does.

"ISINT THAT CHANGE?!"

Yes, and no. It helps to understand and accept who God is and how the Trinity functions somewhat.

Jesus is God. It says so in a bunch of places. Jesus even said it Himself. Yet in scripture, the Book of John has it the most direct and clear...well clear if you can understand what John is teaching.

John 1:1-5

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 He was with God in the beginning.

3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

Then John goes on to say...

John 1:14

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

So, Jesus was, and was with, God before time started, before change happened.

Things were made. That was the change. What was made? Space, the Universe, Matter, Angels, Heaven, Earth, man and animals. We don't know when the Angels were made, but they were made. They were created. Satan was created. It says so.

Angels are in time. Heaven is in time. Heaven changes.

The cool part is that John says EVERYTHING was created through Jesus, and he calls Him the Word.

If you have ever done any programming, you know that the code you use is called a language. It works like words. These words, this code, tells the machine what to do. In the same way a book is written by an author using words on a page.

Jesus is the Words of this story...ALL of it. Jesus is the code that everything is made by and for.

Yes, it is extremely complicated. Could you imagine the skill and time it would take for programmers or an author to create a virtual world as complex as this one? Yeah, eternity would not be enough time for them to do it.

Hebrews 1:3

3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Jesus is an exact representation of God the Father.

John 14:9

9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.

To put this simply, much more simply than it is in actual, Jesus is God the Father in Time. HE is the one who appears to change. The very fact that Jesus is the Word that all things are made by WAS a change.

So, EVERYTHING except God the Father is in time and because so, experiences change. This is how and why it says God does not change. He doesn't change, The Father. Jesus, as the Father doesn't either but in this bubble of change, well, He does.

Yeah, it can make your head spin.

"So, who cares?"

If you want to grow in faith, you must get to know God. God as Jesus, God as The Father, and God as The Spirit. You must get to know God. If you don't, or refuse to accept a part or nature of God, then you limit your faith. It's growth just stops.

That may be as far as you go. That is OK, for from the Fathers perspective, you were made and written that way exactly.

From Jesus' perspective, well, that can be another matter. You see, He is the one who can get pissed off. Pissed off is a change of mood.

Think Pharisees and the incident with the whips. Oh and then there is that whole Wrath of God thing coming...

It is not something you really want to do.

I have pissed Him off twice...it wasn't pleasant, and I was in the place of being one of His sons. He was like an angry father. Pissed off at those who are not kids, well, yeah, 100 pound hailstones.

There is a great advantage to understanding and acknowledging this amazing part of God's nature. You can really have assurance of Salvation by getting the Holy Spirit's perspective of you. You will see (faith does that) that you are His, and that you were made on purpose, for a very specific purpose. You don't have to know what it is. You will KNOW that you ARE His and you cannot mess up His plan for you. How could a character in a story possibly mess up the story as written by the Author.

You can't.

I don't know about you, but for me, this is a huge relief. We are HIS work. Even our choices good or bad are pre-ordained by The Father. Jesus, didn't just die on the cross and rise from the dead. He is working in us for the Father to make us what HIS immutable plan will be.

Sure it can sound scary. Sure it doesn't sound fair. However, we, being time-based beings with extremely limited understanding, can't possibly use our "understanding" to judge God. This is what Paul says in Roman's 9.

God is good. I know this by faith. I know this by experience. I know this by the way He talks to me and looks at me. Yes, He made my life hard, and not because of mistakes on my part. No, He did it to make me grow, simply because I asked Him to do so.

Ah, but even that was planned and orchestrated by The Father!

It brings freedom.

I am free from me.
