Want A Cookie?

Updated: May 9

Hebrews 11:6

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

The word "Faith" in Scripture does not mean Faith in just anything, or faith in of itself (Faith in faith). It is not some arbitrary force that we can tap into to make stuff happen.

Luke 17:6

6 He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

If it really was, then if you had more than a tiny amount of faith in a French fry, then you could move a mulberry tree with that.

In the book, faith is blatantly stated to be Faith in God.

If you really have faith in God, you would trust Him. God is good. There is no need to "claim" anything He promises.

If you trust Him to be good, it would be insulting to claim anything, thinking you must do that to acquire what He has freely given.

Imagine a father with three children. He offers each of them a cookie, one child says I claim that cookie, another says I must believe I can take that cookie in order to take it, the last child just happily takes the cookie when it is given. Which one has Faith in the father and nothing else?

Do you believe God is good? Then why would you need to do anything to receive what He freely gives you?

"But why can't I send a Mulberry tree to the sea?"

Jesus, who of all who ever lived, most definitely had faith as big as, or bigger than a mustard seed. He never did walk around shooting trees to any sea. No, because He always did what He saw the Father doing. He trusted the Father. He knew that the Father knew what was best in all circumstances. Jesus didn't do what He wanted, but rather submitted His will to His Father's will.

That is pure faith. Faith that can move mountains.

If you do have mustard seed Faith, you can move a Mulberry tree, but only when the Father wants it moved.

Faith doesn't create the cookie, faith only enables a child to simply accept it when it is given.

It also doesn't claim a cookie that was offered several weeks ago, especially if the Father is not currently offering cookies.

Arrogance is not Faith.

Just believing something in Scripture applies to you, doesn't make it true.

If God is offering, and you accept, it is a done deal. Then He does all the powerful stuff.

Authority is given.

Authority taken is what a usurper does.

Claiming, declaring, boldly announcing is a challenge to God and His right to give anything He wants to anyone He wants.

He is God alone. We are not, no matter what knowledge you posses, especially the knowledge of good and evil.
