Wasted Effort

Galatians 5:6 NIV
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Circumcision, as Paul writes was a work, a badge of effort that Legalists were adding as a necessary requirement to salvation. The Legalists were deadly wrong.
They still are, although, the "work" is no longer circumcision, but anything from a specific church, to how long a persons hair is.
It is absolutely ridiculous, when you BY FAITH understand how God saved us. We did nothing to earn it and can do nothing to keep it.
The ONLY thing that counts is FAITH expressing itself through LOVE.
Love is kindness.
If you are not kind to another...to anyone, you are not expressing FAITH, but a WORK.
Your work will never save you.
